As part of our initiative ‘WeddingSutra on Location’, we invited four
brides-to-be for a unique experience at Anita Dongre’s Bridal Studio in
Lower Parel, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, a Makeover and
a Photo shoot, each participant got to interact with some of the best
names in Bridal & Wedding services.
Here in the last of the four-part series, bride-to-be Khyati Shah blogs about her experience with WeddingSutra on Location at Anita Dongre’s Bridal Studio.
“I chanced upon WeddingSutra.com sometime last year and even with no wedding plans around the corner, I had diligently begun to follow their website for articles and references. My little black book is filled with names of designers, make-up artists and photographers from this one-stop, comprehensive wedding portal.
By now, I had started shortlisting designers for my big day, but hadn’t been able to zero down on any. While browsing through Wedding Sutra on Location, I wondered what their next location was going to be. Although I was initially hesitant about having my photos put up in a bridal avatar for half the world to see, I realized this would be a good way to experiment and find a suitable wedding day look with professional consultation at my disposal.
Anita Dongre’s Studio being the upcoming location was an added incentive. Her Jaipur Brides’ Collection is a timeless blend of style and sophistication – offering just the kind of understated elegance I was looking for.
Pleasant faces greeted me as I entered the studio, and the casual, friendly vibe assured me that this was going to be a fun morning. First up was a consultation with Wedding Planner – Candice Pereira about what I had in mind. We browsed through the outfits on display making mental notes of the designs I liked and stopped at a pretty pink lehenga with gota pati embroidery and hand work, paired with a short, raw silk, embroidered choli. It looked exquisite. Without further ado, everyone concurred that this is what I should try first.. I did and instantly fell in love with it.
Next came make-up & hair with Recinda Martis. Having had disastrous salon experiences in the past, I was particular about not wanting an over-the-top bridal do but something more natural, something that made me look, like ‘me’. We discussed a few looks briefly and somehow along the conversation, I felt assured that I was in good, experienced hands. The make-up looked flawless (camouflaging my tired skin and dark-circles), with lightly blushed cheeks, natural tint on the lips and a kohl-smoked look emphasizing the eyes.
The jewellery chosen by Candice and the Wedding Sutra team, too, worked really well. A statement neck-piece became the highlight with gold earrings and bangles to complement.
I was all set for the shoot with photographer Dev Purbiya, whose easy-going demeanor instantly puts one at ease. His modest and unpretentious attitude made him a pleasure to work with.
Later, I had time to catch up with other brides-to-be and it was interesting how we were all so different, yet so similar when it came to D-day vanity. Being an art director and having worked behind the scenes in the past, it was exciting to be in front of the camera, adorned in bridal finery. Wedding Sutra on Location was even more fun than I imagined. And once you get past any initial hesitations and inhibitions, you realize how useful the experience is!”
